Description

Takiguchi discusses working in a sugar mill after high school, his desire to travel after the war, and his experiences after basic training in Honolulu including describing a close call with a Japanese submarine. He then talks about his experiences with segregation in Mississippi, describes firing a machine gun for the first time, and talks about training at Louisiana Maneuvers. Next, Takiguchi discusses shipping out to Oran, traveling to Salerno, and combat experiences in Italy. Lastly, Takiguchi talks about a soldier killed in action, his first day in combat, and the duties of soldiers in an infantry.
