Fukasawa is sent to Korea and says the feeling is different from the European Theater because there is not advancement of the front line. In Korea you have to hold the line and the moral is not a high spirited.

Fukasawa returns back home after the war when he accumulates enough points. After Korea, Fukasawa and his wife live in Los Angeles. He gets a job at the Naval Center until 1954 when he works for Ventura County Junior College. Fukasawa works his way up to head Gardener and then retires. He has three daughters, grandchild and great grandchildren. Fukasawa also leaves a advice for future generations. ]]>

During the war, in order for Headquarters to communicate with the 522nd Artillery Field Battalion, they would use fort observers. The fort observers are use as the go between to get orders from Firing Center to get coordinates to set up the 105mm Howitzer.

In the Lost Battalion rescue the 522nd Artillery Field Battalion supplied the ammunition to the US troops. They also fired propaganda written in German to the German soldiers. Fukasawa recalls the many casualties from the Lost Battalion Campaign and trucks that was loaded full of bodies.

When the war ends, he remains in Europe for occupation. As a truck driver his duty to transport the Prisoners of War. He did this for a week. Fukasawa also works in a reception center and goes to school in Munich. Months later, Fukasawa gets orders to return home. He recalls going home on a troopship and the soldiers getting seasick. He lands in New York and gets discharge in Chicago.

On the ship going overseas, Fukasawa has KP duty. He recalls the soldiers are either seasick or gambling on the ship. During his time off, he learns Italian. When the troops arrive overseas, they land near Naples. Fukasawa sees children looking for food in garbage bins and remembers the condition of the city as impoverish due to the war.

As the front line moves to Rome, Fukasawa moves with the 522nd Field Artillery Battalion. He could not tell the difference between the battles. He can only tell if the battle will be a heavy by the amount of ammunition hauled. Fukasawa's duty is the truck driver and he describes the amount of weapons carried in the truck is dangerous if they get hit.

During the European Theater, he would receive letters from his wife, and family. Also there were some down time for him to get some rest. He recalls a three day R&R in Rome and the Champagne Campaign.

Fukasawa is not able to visit his family in Manazar but his Father correspond frequently. After Texas, he is transfer to the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and and trains to be in the 522nd Field Artillery Battalion. Fukasawa has no experience with weapons because he was previously in a medical unit and assign to the ambulance platoon.

At Camp Shelby, Fukasawa learns from scratch for basic training. He is a fast learn because he only has one month to learn before replacements arrive. In basic training, Fukasawa meets the Hawaiian boys for the first time. He says you have to be friends with everyone because you have to work as a team. Fukasawa describes training with the 105mm Howitzer and the operators and his rank in basic training.

Fukasawa's Father gets an opportunity to be a farm hand in Hawaii and the family relocates. Fukasawa lives in a valley that is pretty isolated and plays by himself and he is the only Japanese American at his school. Another nature destruction ruins their home and the family is forced to move. After junior high school, the Fukasawa family moves to Santa Monica, California and his Father obtains a job in the gardening business,

High school at Santa Monica is much larger in comparison to Hawaii. Fukasawa finds it difficult getting acquainted and developing close friendships. In Santa Monica the community has a large number of Japanese American families and a boys and girls clubs is formed. Fukasawa joins the boy clubs for social gathering.

Growing up, Fukasawa does not got to Japanese School. As an alternative, his Mother teaches him Japanese by translating the Japanese Bible. At home, Fuksawa's Father understands English but does not speak well. However, the family has a method to communicate to each other.

After graduating high school, Fukasawa goes to Junior College and works at a fruit stand briefly and then gardening for six years. In 1941 he volunteers for service and is in the 7th Division at Fort Ord in the medical unit.
