Shishido discusses more about going to the prisoner of war camps in Nagasaki and what it was like to interpret in that situation. He also talks about recreational activities during that time and the high costs for certain foods. After this, he would head to Camp Zama to be discharged from the Army, but would stay in Japan to work as an interpreter as a civilian. He also talks about how he met his wife and the civil service work that he did. Next, he discusses the importance of the Nisei linguists during the occupation and talks about what it was like to have one brother in the Japanese Army and another brother in the American Army. Finally, he discusses some last experiences in Tokyo.

Shishido continues his recollection of his time in occupied Japan, interpreting for the war crimes trials in Tokyo. He discusses the intricacies of the interpreting process, including body language and understanding various dialects and meanings. Next, he talks about his impressions of seeing Tokyo when arriving and the cold weather that he experienced. He also talks about some of the cultural things he did such as attend a kabuki show and speak with Japanese civilians to learn Japanese etiquette. He then talks a bit more about his experiences with the war crimes trials, including interrogations and going to prisoner of war camps throughout Japan to interpret for various cases. After this, he talks about some of the things he did in Japan during his free time. Along with talking with civilians, he would also go and visit his family that lived in Fukushima, including his mother, whom he had not seen since he was a child.

Shishido begins the interview talking about his family coming over from Japan to Hawaii and then moving back to Japan with his eldest brother and sister, Hiroshi choosing to stay behind with his younger brother. He would grow up on Maui, helping out at his aunt's farm and attending school and Japanese language school. Next, he talks about the attacks on Pearl Harbor and being drafted into the Army. He would head to Schofield Barracks and Fort Shasta to begin his field training, skipping over basic training altogether. He would be sent to Japan to begin his first assignment as an interpreter. There, he would interrogate and interpret for prisoners of war and obtain information about the ongoing war in the Pacific. He would also go on a short trip to Palau to evacuate the locals, but ended up being stranded there for 7 months before returning to Saipan.

Sato talks more about his marriage background and what he did after business school at the University of Washington. He would begin his career with the Seattle School District, first becoming a high school teacher and then later becoming a vice principal of a couple of different middle schools. Next, he talks about the various organizations and clubs that he's been involved with and his work recreating the Military Intelligence Service logo after discrepancies with Native Americans. He finishes up talking about the Nisei legacy, gives a message for future generations and gives the names of his children and grandchildren.

Sato continues his recollection of being an interpreter and interrogator in the Philippines. When arriving there, he would immediately notice the devastation and flatness that the war had caused. He talks about the children there seeing Japanese American soldiers but thinking they were Japanese soldiers. He would be involved with the war crimes trials, interrogating witnesses. Sato discusses various important people during the war, including a teacher from Hawaii and a spy for the American Army. After the Philippines, he would head back to Tokyo to get his discharge from the Army, but stayed around and would take a job interpreting and interrogating as a civil servant. He would also be involved with the Korean War as a civil servant, interrogating Korean soldiers that spoke Japanese. Then, due to the GI Bill, he would head back to Hawaii to begin college at the University of Hawaii. After this, he gives a background of his wife's family and how they came to meet.

Sato talks about his health and the surgery that he had and the emotions that he has had because of it, which is much different than the Japanese culture he grew up knowing. Next, he talks about being drafted into the Army and being sent to Honolulu's Schofield Barracks before being sent to the mainland to begin his basic training. He would first get to Fort Lewis in Washington before being sent to Camp Wolters in Texas. While there, he and the other Hawaiian soldiers would experience their first snows. Then, he would be sent to Fort Snelling to begin his stint with the Military Intelligence Service. He talks about hearing of the end of war and being shipped overseas to Tokyo and then to the Philippines with ATIS.

Sato discusses more about his childhood in Hawaii, playing football and track for Baldwin High School. He also talks about impactful people throughout his high school days. Next, he talks about the attacks on Pearl Harbor and how they had to black out their windows so enemy submarines couldn't see any lights. He would see his neighbor being picked up by the FBI and never came back. After the attacks, they would be faced with restrictions and forced to carry gas masks with them everywhere they went. He discusses the Japanese influences that could be seen within his childhood home at the time, including an obutsudan and attending Japanese language school. He also talks about seeing people volunteering for the Army, including teachers and his cousin.

Sato begins the interview talking about how his parents came from Fukushima to Maui. His father would farm silk worms and work on the sugar plantation, also learning sumo and carpentry along the way. He talks quickly about his wife's parents route to Maui also, going first through Peru until finally arriving in Hawaii. His mother would work at a dairy farm, bringing back kiawe beans. Kenichi would enjoy swimming, fishing and playing sports while attending Kahului Elementary School and then Baldwin High School.

Anzai talks about assisting Hawaiian soldiers with writing letters to their families back home while in battle at Anzio, and also talks about his duties during battle which involved being a rifleman. He then discusses about some of the medals he received. Anzai details about working in a hospital as a messenger when the war ended. Anza also discusses about returned to the United States, and arrived in New York where he stayed in a hospital for a month due to sickness, and then traveled back to Hawaii with other Hawaiian soldiers. He then describes the living conditions, activities, and food on the boat. Anzai discusses his life once returning to Hawaii, working as a mason, and then as a carpenter. Lastly, he talks about marriage, his children and their occupations, his grandchildren, important lessons learned from World War Two including his experiences as a Nisei soldier; and provides a message to future generations of Japanese Americans regarding work, education, and war.

Anzai talks about some of the battles he was a part of during the European Theater, and recalls praying during battle, a close call in Cassino while under fire, and describes the trench foot condition that plagued many of the soldiers. He then talks about getting hit by shrapnel, describes the replacement soldiers from the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and teaching them how to dig trenches, and talks about how he brought a Senninbari from Maui as a good luck charm. Anzai discusses about his brother serving in the Japanese Navy, and his father’s death. Lastly, Anzai details about writing letters in Japanese to soldiers’ parents in Hawaii in order to avoid censorship.

Anzai discusses his assignment with the Hawaiian National Guard in Maui during the attack on Pearl Harbor, as well as his feelings regarding Japan after the attack, and his brother getting drafted into the Japanese Navy. Anzai details about traveling from Hawaii to Wisconsin for basic training at Camp McCoy, and describes seeing snow; and teaching judo to Sparky Matsunaga - who would later go on to become a United States senator. While at Camp McCoy, the soldiers would go to the nearest town and Anzai recalls instances of fighting between the Hawaiian soldiers and local townspeople. Anzai discusses about his experiences at Camp Shelby, Mississippi.
