At this point of the interview, Ted Oye is replaced by his wife Sanako Oye and she begins a short discussion on her life. She was born in Salinas, California and her parents owned a dry goods store. Being a tomboy at the time, she would run around with the boys and had a love for sports, until she was taught classical Japanese dance and would begin performing that. After Pearl Harbor, her father would be taken by the FBI and moved around, ending up in New Mexico, while they had to move to Poston concentration camp in Arizona. During their time there, the dry goods store, would end up getting robbed multiple times and burning down in a fire, leaving them with nothing back home. After the concentration camps, she would head out to Philadelphia where she would meet Ted and start a family.]]>
