Nagaki talks about his family and growing up in Oregon including helping out on his family’s dairy farm, going to Japanese language school, participating in Kendo, and going to polytechnic school. He then talks about his family’s experiences with racism, his thoughts regarding the attack on Pearl Harbor, and getting drafted. Next, Nagaki talks about religion, and discusses his life at Camp Robinson including talking about basic training and his assignment breaking rocks. Lastly, Nagaki discusses being sent to Fort Warren where his assignment was to clean up the gymnasium, and then he volunteered to go to Camp Shelby.
