Frank explains returning of territory (taken in battle) and USCAR's key role in rebuilding Okinawa. Moreover, Frank gives credit to the Military Intelligence Service (MIS) during the occupation.

From 1959 to 1972, Frank worked for USCAR. After USCAR dissolved, Frank stayed in Okinawa and joined the Navy Command as a Public Affairs Officer (POA) from 1972 to 1986. Frank recalls President Eisenhower's visit to Okinawa in 1959 and the bad public relations afterward.

After 1986, Frank retired. He resided in Seattle for ten years before moving to Boise, ID. In 2001, he moved to Hawaii to live with his daughter, Barbara. Overall, Frank said his Public Affairs Officer career in Federal Service was rewarding and discussed other Nisei's contributions to occupation in Japan.]]>

After the apple harvest, Frank returned to Tule Lake to teach literature at a high school. Frank has not seen his parents in a long time and asks for a transfer to Minidoka. In February 1943, Frank arrived in Minidoka and got a job offer in Chicago.

In December, Frank volunteered for the Army and was inducted. Frank went to Camp Savage and then Fort Snelling before going overseas. Overseas, Frank went to India and then to the Occupation of Japan.

In October 1945, Frank and George Iwataki went to Okinawa. Franks was assigned to Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) and tasked to take the 77th Infantry Division Language Team to Sapporo. Eventually, Frank was discharged at Zama and was recruited by Allied Translator and interpreter Section (ATIS) as Department of Army Civilian.

Later, Frank worked for the International News Service (INS). When Frank worked for INS, he worked with Warren Iwataki. Warren worked at the copy desk, and Frank was a reporter. Frank recalls his tenure at INS and the highlights of his career.

In 1947, Frank met his wife through family friends and married. In 1959, Frank worked as an Information Specialist/News Writer for the United States Civil Administration of the Ryukyu Islands with Headquarter Company (USCAR).]]>

After the divorce, Frank's biological returned to Japan and opened an American-styled restaurant called Olympics Restaurant. Many Nisei who studies in Japan would gather at the Olympics.

Frank's parents taught him to study hard, and education was important. At home, Frank spoke Japanese and English. He attended Bailey Gatzert Elementary School and Japanese language school. In 1937, Frank graduated high school, and his family moved to Montana. After high school, Frank attended the University of Washington until Pearl Harbor.

Frank recalls the Pearl Harbor attack and evacuation. Frank and four other Nisei were sent to Tule Lake as the advance crew to set up the camp.
In September, Frank went to Idaho to help harvest the crops on a farm. Then he returned to Tule Lake and asked for a transfer to Minidoka.

In 1943, Frank volunteered for the Army and took his physical exam. Frank explains why he joined the Military Intelligence Service (MIS) because of a directive from the War Department. On February 1, 1944, Frank reported to Fort Sheridan and later went to Camp Savage.]]>
