Another way that Kubota shares his war experiences is in the I Company book. In 1943, Kubota goes to have dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Beall and a blonde girl. In 1995 at the dedication monument at Camp Shelby. He reunites with the blonde girl. After the reunion they maintain in contact and correspond often.

When the 100th Infantry Battalion has a monument dedication at Camp Benning, Kubota learns of a lady from Georgia trying to learn about her Father's service during World War Two. She is only 5 years old when her Father joins the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. Kubota corresponds with her about her Father's activities during the war.

Kubota also shares the grievances of Shiro Kashimo from I Company, and clears his records. Kashino is a Platoon Sergeant, who participates in the Italian Campaign. In addition, Kubota discusses photographs from Italy.]]>

After the Lost Battalion rescue, Kubota rejoins I Company on November 3 when he hears the company is getting ready to head south for another assignment. Kubota is offer an officer position but refuse. He instead goes to Sospel, France with company. His soldiers finds out the officer promotion and support him to take the position. He appreciates his soldiers because they watch out for each other and he feels they kept him alive.

In Florence, Kubota accumulates enough points to return home. When he arrives back to Hawaii, he extends his service with the intent to locate his older Brother in Japan. In Japan, Kubota is able to locate his older Brother with the help of his younger Brother and Mrs. Headley. Due to the point system again, Kubota is discharge and returns home.

After occupation, Kubota goes to Colorado University and majors in sociology. He finds a job as a Probation Officer. Then he works for a plantation company for 21 years as an Industrial Relations Supervisor before working as Safe and Health Compliance Officer on the Mainland.

Kubota gets married on June 12, 1954 and have two sons. During his retirement time he enjoys gardening. ]]>

During combat and battles, there is no time for bathing except when resting time. Soldiers either shower when the shower unit comes or use their helmet to get water to do quick bathing. For food, soldiers have K rations or C rations. Overseas, Kubota recalls during summer they would raid farm houses and eat fruits. In Romo-Arno Kubota would exchange cigarettes, candy or rations with Nationals for local food.

Kubota recollects his wearing his new boots after Bruyeres. Kubota hurts his ankle and is in field hospital where he meets a French boy. Kubota is kind to the French boy and gives him food. In return the french boy invites him to his house where Kubota eats bake chicken and potatoes. The next morning before Kubota gets ready to leave, the French boy gives him an egg and wishes him luck. Kubota feels the blessing from the French boy protected him. When the war in Europe ends and Kubota guards prisoners of war. He also discusses war memorabilia he obtains overseas. ]]>

Overseas, Kubota carries an ojuzu (mediation beads) that are given to him from his Sunday school teachers. Kubota would wear the ojuzu in a pouch around his neck with his dog tags.

The journey overseas takes one month and he lands in Naples. In Naples Kubota sees devastation from war. Kubota's first combat is on June 26. In Belvedere, Kubota comes across a dead German soldier and the first time meeting 100th Infantry Battalion assisted in battle.

Kubota commends the bravery of medics helping his company when they are wounded. When his company's Platoon Sergeant is killed, Kubota receives a promotion. Kubota also shares a funny story sleeping in a buggy on a farm.

Kubota's Mother is afraid he might go to war with his Brother in Japan but she understands why Kubota needs to serve in the army. Before leaving, his coaches sponsor a going away party. Kubota is inducted at Hilo Army and goes to Honolulu. He marches to the Iolani Palace and then goes to Schofield Barrack for attitude testing.

After passing the attitude test, Kubota travels to Camp Shelby for basic training. He is assign to Anti-Tank Company; I Company; 2nd Platoon; 1st squad. In basic training he learns that infantry training, discipline, rifle training, close combat training and 30 mile hikes in the heat.

After basic training over, Kubota is given weekend pass and furloughs . He recalls experiencing discrimination on the Mainland. On furlough, Kubota also visits Jerome. He describes the high guard tower with machine guns place around camp. At Jerome, he sees his Sunday school teacher. Kubota says the Japanese Americans are resilient and are able to take care of themselves. In camp they organize their own school system; recreation center; and hospital. The Japanese people knows how to carry on despite being in camp.

Kubota''s Father is a hard worker who is quiet and kind. He instills to his children to work hard and be good to others. His Mother is philosopher and educates the Kubota and his siblings how to be good children. Kubota has two brothers and two sisters. Kubota's oldest brother is born in Japan and lives there whereas his other siblings are born in Hawaii.

Kubota lives on the plantation as a child. Although his family is poor, he grows up as a happy child. His parents work very hard to provide for the family. His Father works as a carpenter and his Mother is a house maid for the plantation supervisors. Kubota is Buddhist and attends camp church. He attends Sunday school and church services are on Wednesday nights.

In addition to attending primary school, his attends Japanese language school from 1-12 grade. He learns about morals ethic and ways of living. Kubota says these value for good for him. He also learns Judo. Besides school, Kubota is active in sports such as the plantation league basketball and baseball team.

He recalls learning about the attack on Pearl Harbor on the radio. After a week from the bombing, Kubota goes to clean up Hickham Air Force Base and sees first hand the disaster. When the announcement of Nisei Regiment Formation is looking for volunteers, Kubota goes to volunteer.]]>
