Matsui continues stories from occupied Japan, including talking with desperate civilians trying to sell things on the black market. He would also help with the war crimes trials as an investigator with the 8th Army Judge Advocate section. His assignment would be to get statements from various witnesses as a part of the defense. He talks more about the trials, ending up working on around 25 different cases during his time there. Next, he talks about visiting his parents that were living in Kyushu during one of his furloughs and what it was like to see them and hear about news of other family members. He would then return to the United States, where he would go back to college and end up working for Mitsubishi as a deputy branch manager.

An account of the resource
While Matsui was at Camp Savage instructing classes, his uncle would be at Minidoka Concentration Camp, where the living conditions were very poor. He talks about how he met his wife and his outlook on the war while at Camp Savage. Shortly after, he would hear of the end of the war and head back to Washington as he awaited his shipment to Japan. Upon arrival in Japan, he would immediately notice the devastation that the war brought on Tokyo and Yokohama. His first assignment would be with the Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) in Tokyo, followed by other stints in Hokkaido and Hakodate. He would be promoted and end up a 1st Lieutenant, talking about the commission structure.

Matsui talks about his whereabouts when he first head of the attacks on Pearl Harbor, hearing it on the radio and getting drafted into the Army at Fort Lewis. He would attend basic training at Camp Robinson, where he would immediately get friendly with a Native American soldier. He would be assigned to the Military Intelligence Service Language School at Camp Savage and begin his courses there. He would train as a translator as he was a kibei and understood Japanese well, and would even stay on to be an instructor.

After returning from Japan, Matsui would settle in Seattle, noticing the differences between American and Japanese community and culture. He would work as a houseboy for a caucasian family, earning $15 a month and working at the salmon cannery in Alaska during the summers. Next, he talks about taking three more years of high school before taking courses at the University of Washington. He also talks about his Buddhist background and the events that he would attend. At the time, he would keep tabs on the wars going on in Japan and have a bad feeling that they would attack the United States.

Takashi Matsui begins the interview talking about his family background and his parents coming from Japan and moving to the west coast of the United States. At the young age of three, he would actually move back to Japan, where he would attend school and live with his grandparents until the end of high school. Hara discusses his occupation experience in Japan and his contribution as a Nisei. During occupation, Hara's duties involve translation and interpreting. Hara describes first experience in an interrogation is with a Japanese Admiral. He also helps a factory owner from a hostage situation. When Hara is discharge and returns to Portland, he continues his education at University of Oregon and becomes a doctor, Hara gets married and have five children and nine grandchildren. He discusses he feels different being Japanese Americans post-war due to his contributions to the war.

Hara discusses his military routines in basic training and the relationship between Mainland boys and Hawaiian boys. When Hara graduates basic training, there is discrimination in the military. The Caucasian soldiers receives the higher ranks than the Japanese soldiers, He waits at the Turkey Farm before going overseas to the Philippines. When Hara goes to Japan, he is in the 333rd Infantry Division. He recalls his duties and how the Japanese Nationals treats the United States army different than the Filipino Nationals.

George Hara discusses temporary detention center and camp life at Minidoka Concentration Camp before leaving to Delaware for medical school. While in college, Hara experience a few discrimination experiences. He gets fired for being Japanese American and after many petitions he is able to get his job back. Also he tries to enlist for the Navy but his turned down due to his ethnicity. After these discrimination, he returns back to Minidoka. Shortly after, he receives a draft notice for the army. He recalls Military Language school and Military Intelligence Service (MIS).

Hara discusses his influential teachers during his school years and before evacuation, the High Y Club through him a banquet. As a a result of his Mother's values to work hard and higher education, Hara's aspiration is to go to medical school. Hara discusses his name, date of birth and birth place. His parents are Issei and his Father comes to the United States for better opportunities. Hara's Father works in various places before leasing a hotel in Portland called Austria Hotel. Growing up in hotel did not bother Hara until his High School years. When he gains more friendships with Hakujins in High School he realizes the difference in living conditions, houses versus hotel.
In Portland there are two Japanese Communities, North and South. Hara recalls going to Japanese School and joining many Nisei social activities which includes Boy Scouts, Basketball, and Judo.
