An account of the resource
Sato discusses his Presidential appointments in the Department of Transportation and Department of Veterans Affairs under the Carter and Reagan administrations. He provides some thoughts regarding being one the first Japanese American Presidential appointees; talks about his experiences with discrimination prior to his appointments; discusses his duties while in the Department of Transportation; and talks about his experiences meeting President Carter. He then talks about his involvement with the redress movement; discusses the reasons why he took the Department of Transportation job; and talks about his relationship with Walter Mondale. Next, Sato talks about the importance of the redress movement; discusses his brother's military service; provides some thoughts regarding President Carter and President Reagan; and discusses his service as part of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Lastly, Sato talks about sharing stories with his children and grandchildren regarding his life experiences including his time spent in incarceration camps.

An account of the resource
Sato provides some thoughts regarding forced removal; and discusses his experiences at Puyallup temporary detention facility and Minidoka Concentration Camp including living conditions and the weather. He then discusses his brothers' military service; visiting Europe with his brother post-war; and discusses the end of the war and moving to Minnesota after leaving [Minidoka]. Sato then talks about his father's post-war employment; moving back to the west coast; attending college; and his ROTC commission and service in the Air Force. Lastly, Sato discusses his experiences with discrimination while trying to get a job; his civilian job with the Air Force; traveling for work; the importance of Nisei veterans; discusses his Presidential appointments; and talks about his wife and children.

Sato discusses his parents' immigration to the United States, their physical traits and personalities; and also discusses his father's employment. He then talks about his childhood and discusses religion, his childhood home, his family's Japanese bath (furo), family meals, languages spoken at home, and decorations in his home. Next, Sato discusses his siblings, childhood neighborhood, attending school, playing football, and his childhood mentor. Sato also discusses celebrating holidays including New Years; discusses the attack on Pearl Harbor and aftermath; talks about his chores on the farm; and discusses recreational activities such as fishing. Lastly, Sato discusses Executive Order 9066; forced removal; talks about the items he brought to Puyallup temporary detention facility; and discusses his first impressions of Puyallup.
