Description
An account of the resource
Kimura talks about his experiences as an interrogator throughout the war, speaking with Japanese prisoners of war and trying to get as much information as possible. He talks about finding a piece of paper which showed the date and location of an attack by the 17th Army and would end up saving lots of soldiers. Another experience would earn him a Bronze Star as he would help to map the location of two artillery guns with information received from prisoners of war. After this, he talks more about his experiences on the front line, interrogating prisoners in Bougainville and taking a leave and hitchhiking to Sydney.

Description
An account of the resource
After his language training and basic training, Kimura would ship out, heading first to Australia, where they would set up in tents and settle in at Camp Chelmer. There, he would join up with Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) and get his first assignment as a translator in New Guinea and Bougainville. While in Bougainville, he would try to get captured documents and interrogate prisoners of war to gain as much information as possible. He tells a story that all officers, including generals had to respect the privacy of the interrogations and would have to ask permission to view them.

Description
An account of the resource
While at the Topaz Concentration Camp, Kimura would see Army recruiting teams, looking for Japanese speakers to join the Military Intelligence Service (MIS). He would volunteer and pass the tests, giving him a sense of patriotism and a reason to get out of the camps. He would head to Camp Savage to begin his language courses, studying all day long. They would all learn the Japanese language, along with interrogation techniques and obtaining tactical value. He would graduate from the training program and then head back to Fort Snelling for a short time, and then to Camp Shelby for a crash course in basic training.
