Description
An account of the resource
Yoshioka discusses the time he spent stationed in Australia including a furlough in Sydney, his whereabouts at the end of the war, and going back to the United States where he was discharged at Camp McCoy. He then talks about attending college in Minnesota for radio servicing; his employment at a department store and at the post office; and also talks about his first wife and step-children. Lastly, Yoshioka discusses his involvement in Japanese American community groups, his second wife; and shows and describes an Army serial number tattoo.

Yoshioka discusses life at Camp Savage during Military Intelligence Service Language School (MISLS), and his assignment in Australia translating prisoners of war (POW) interrogations. He then talks about his guard duty assignment in New Guinea, other translator and interrogation assignments and techniques; and his post-war assignment in Japan. Lastly, Yoshioka discusses traveling back to the United States, recalls his worst war experiences while in the California desert at maneuvers, and discusses his brother-in-law who was killed in action.

Yoshioka talks about religion and attending Buddhist church, discusses his sister’s name, experiences with discrimination post-war, and his whereabouts during the attack on Pearl Harbor. He then talks about the reasons why he volunteered for the Army, his family’s forced removal; and transferring to the 899th Anti-Tank Battalion and going to maneuvers. Yoshioka then talks about his duties, rank, and assignments at Fort Sill; going to Military Intelligence Service (MIS); and his family’s incarceration at Topaz. Lastly, Yoshioka talks about MIS training at Camp Savage.
