Description
After his language training, Kubo would be shipped overseas, first going to Angel Island near San Francisco, where they would prepare for the long journey ahead. They would head out on a 50-day boat ride to Brisbane, Australia, getting sick and gambling along the way. There, they would set up with the Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS). Next, they would be sent out to New Guinea to form a task force. They would go to multiple places from there including Morotai, Latay and Luzon, where the end of the war would occur and they would be sent to Fukuoka in Japan for the military occupation. He talks more about his experiences in Asia, being a translator and capturing documents.
