Hamada discusses taking a loyalty questionnaire and the aftermath which included getting sent to a segregation camp and expatriation to Japan. He then talks about his experiences in Japan including traveling, discussing food, visiting relatives, and getting a job as a translator. Next, Hamada talks about his other employment opportunities including his job in Tokyo and working for an airline in the United States. Lastly, Hamada talks about getting his United States citizenship reinstated and returning to the United States; his friendship with Nisei veterans; his experiences as a "no-no boy"; and discusses his wife, siblings, and children.

Hamada talks about his experiences as part of ROTC; discusses his thoughts regarding citizenship; and talks about how his grandparents moved back to Japan while he was still in high school. He then talks about his knowledge of pre-war tensions between the United States and Japan; discusses his work experiences after high school; and discusses the attack on Pearl Harbor and aftermath including talking about the treatment of Japanese Americans, Executive Order 9066, FBI and police presence in the Japanese American community, and his experiences with discrimination. Next, Hamada continues to discusses the aftermath of Pearl Harbor and talks about having to leave his belongings behind; and his family's forced removal to Pinedale temporary detention facility and Poston incarceration camp. Hamada then talks about the living conditions and his work at Pinedale; describes barbed wire; and talks about his experiences at Poston including recreational activities. Lastly, Hamada talks about the loyalty questionnaire he took and the interrogation process; and discusses how he became a "no-no boy".

Uchimiya continues his recollection of his war time overseas, beginning with the Lost Battalion campaign. He talks about the process that they took to save the 36th Division and General Dahlquists reaction afterwards. He would also receive a wound during this time that would spell the end of his combat time. Next, he discusses his time in the hospital and his time at Lake Como, where he would attend classes. He goes on to talk more about his other war experiences, and an ear injury that he received during the war. From these two injuries, he would receive two Purple Hearts. He would return to the United States using the points system, and be discharged at Camp Atterbury. After this, he would reunite with his family in Cleveland and attend Ohio State University. Next, he talks about his career work and his wife and children. Next, he talks about skiing and finishes with a message for future generations.

An account of the resource
Uchimiya beings the interview with a brief introduction of his family and how they came to El Centro, California. There, he would begin his schooling, while working on the farm. His family would enjoy camping and taking month-long trips to San Diego. After high school, he would attend a junior college in Brawley until he was drafted into the Army. He would head to Camp Roberts to begin his basic training in field artillery, but during this time, the attacks on Pearl Harbor occurred and he would be moved to Fort McClellan, while his parents would be evacuated and moved to Poston Concentration Camp, his father being detained by the FBI for a time as well. Next, he talks about the infantry training he received the 442nd in Alabama and the shipment to France after. He also talks about the impactful people during that time and his knowledge of the camp his parents lived at.
