Description
An account of the resource
Following his time in occupied Japan, Uyeda was discharged from the Army and from there, he began schooling at MIT. Uyeda discusses the reform of Japan and the implementation of democracy by the United States. Next, he speaks about the discrimination that the Japanese Americans faced throughout that time and having to prove their loyalty to everyone. Uyeda speaks of the politics of their military occupation and his hopes and dreams for future generations, which now includes two grandchildren. The legacy of the Nisei continues to be passed down to future generations, as Uyeda speaks at various places to share his stories.

Description
An account of the resource
After making his way to Japan with the Army, Uyeda would begin his assignments, working for the Civil Intelligence Service (CIS). With this team, he would go throughout Japan, interrogating prisoners of war, researching the population, and reporting his findings. Next, he discusses his explorations through Japan, seeing both Wakayama and Hiroshima. While at Hiroshima, he saw the damage from both a physics standpoint and a human standpoint, and was overall impressed by how much damage one atomic bomb could really do. After this, he discusses the legacy and the importance of the Nisei throughout the war, and praise received from various generals.

Description
An account of the resource
To begin the interview, Uyeda speaks about how he learned the Japanese language, while living in a small town in Washington. The conversation jumps to the United States occupation in Japan following the war and first impressions of a Japan that had been devastated from the war. He talks about reactions of Japanese civilians to things such as Nisei soldiers, African American soldiers and democracy. Likewise, he explains his own reactions to seeing Japan from an American point of view and the similarities he saw between that time and the American civil war. Next, he speaks about the black market and how American soldiers weren't as innocent as many people thought.
