Description
An account of the resource
Frank Mizufuka was a troublemaker in high school -- he dyed his hair red to fit in with his Caucasian classmates. He took judo lessons and wrestling, and also played football for Whittier High School. In high school, he was a part of student government, and enjoyed crashing parties with his friends so that he could be mentioned in the school newspaper. He had little aspirations of leaving home -- he intended to take over the family farm -- because that was all he knew. He attended Fullerton Community College and enlisted into the military before the war broke out. He describes what he was doing the day of the Pearl Harbor attack.

An account of the resource
After moving to Oahu with his family at age 12, Yoshiaki Fujitani had to adjust to his new life while attending Washington Intermediate School. At Washington Intermediate School, he was a part of an extortion case, in which a fellow student tried to force him to give him money. He also talks about his experience in music class, where he regretted his decision to play the violin. Instead of participating in American sports at school, he practiced Judo and Kendo. He, later, attended McKinley High School, where he and his friends joined the ROTC, and received a liberal education under Principal Miles E. Carey.

Description
An account of the resource
Rudy Tokiwa talks about growing up on a farm in Salinas, California. When he was in high school, he moved to Japan and traveled to Manchuria and Korea. He describes what it was like living in Japan and how his fellow Japanese students treated him -- he felt more accepted among his own people than being labelled a "Jap" in the United States. His uncle made him return to the states before the war broke out. At the end of the clip, he discusses his views about the discrimination of Japanese Americans during World War II.
