In 1946, Shigeru and his brother buys a nursery together called Rainbow Nursery. He works there until 1980. During Shigeru's retirement years, he stays active and starts a 49ers Club at the YMCA.

Hattiesburg becomes an active town when Camp Shelby brings in the soldiers. Morimoto finds training rough due to physical size compared to other soldiers. On his spare time at basic training, he look forward to going to Hattiesburg for the fried chicken .

In June, Morimoto goes overseas to the Europe Theater. He has different thoughts about war compare to when he volunteered for service. Morimoto lands in Naples and sees the destruction of the city. Morimoto recalls the campaigns he fights in Rome-Arno; Naples Foggia; Champagne Campaign; Gothic Line; and Bruyeres. The most memorable one for him is the Luciano battle because his Sargent gets injured and Morimoto is saved by his K ration.]]>

Miya recalls the best part of his service is meeting other Japanese Americans who shares the same experiences as his did. The worst part is being discriminated at a restaurant.

When Miya returns home to Utah, his Brother is discharge from Military Intelligence Service and enjoys cooking supper for him. During Miya and his Brother's service, their Sister is in school and helps on the family on the farm.

Miya returns back to farm duties and milking cows for ten years until moving out to California. In California he attends trade school and finds a job at RCA through a friend. At RCA, Miya is a technician testing weather radars for 22 years before leaving for another company. He retires in 1991.

Miya recalls meeting his wife in 1963 at a Methodist Church in West LA. and getting married a few years later. They have two daughters. He shares a message for the next generation.

Okubo's three brothers also serviced in the military. They do not talk about their war time service. Okubo says he is not allow due to secrecy until recently. After being discharge, he returns back to his former employer American Family Life Insurance Company before starting his own independent business.
