Description
An account of the resource
Mr. Mitsui describes the living conditions and facilities at Tule Lake and discusses the "no-no boys" who were moved into the camp. He talks about joining the Army and the hurt of losing a close family friend who served in the 442nd in Italy. Just as Mr. Mitsui was about to be shipped out, the war in Europe ended. Likewise the atomic bomb was dropped on Japan, so Mr. Mitsui ended up serving in the Counter Intelligence Corps in occupied Japan. Mr. Mitsui describes his duties serving as an investigator in Japan.

Description
An account of the resource
Yenokida discusses his time after his imprisonment, working in Denver, farming and shipping vegetables with his brother. Later, they would head back to Cortez to visit their mother and start their own farm, which ended up having over 3,000 acres of farmland, until President Carter decided to have an embargo on Russia, which ended up causing the farm to close. During that time, his brother would drive up to Tule Lake Concentration Camp to help those who did not have anywhere else to go and gave them jobs on the farm. Next, Yenokida discusses the redress and reparations that were given to each family and what it means to him. Finally, he speaks about the legacy of those that went to the camps, served in the war, or took a stand against the government.

Description
An account of the resource
Urata continues his recollection of his time in the Honouliuli Internment Camp in Hawaii as the war went on. He also speaks about how he got involved in Hole Hole Bushi music, which he later became famous for. Next, he goes back to his discussion on the living conditions of the internment camp in Honolulu and how the government was trying to close down the camp but the residents refused to leave. The government responded by sending them all out to the mainland, at Tule Lake concentration camp. Urata recalls the living conditions being worse than Hawaii and nearly applying for repatriation but was talked out of it by a close friend. As the end of the war occurred, Urata would end up in Minnesota, where his sister was residing, and became a teacher for the Military intelligence Service Language School. After a few months there, he would return to Hawaii and work as a translator for the Hawaii Hochi, then an advertising position on the radio, followed by a coffee salesman.

Murakami continues his recollection of the Marysville Temporary Detention Center and the living conditions there. Shortly after that, he and his family were moved to Tule Lake Concentration Camp where tensions were high and at one point they were tear gassed as hostility ran high. Once the war had ended, Murakami was accepted into UC Berkeley and would attend that until he decided to join the Army. It was then that he would head overseas to Japan to work as an interpreter with the 21st Infantry Regiment and the Quartermaster Corps. After about a year he headed back to California to meet up with his wife and attend UCLA where he would complete his dental degree. Next, he would head to Howard University and he would end up staying in the Washington DC area. It was there that he became involved with social activism and continuing to spread the Japanese American legacy, including helping with the Japanese American Memorial to Patriotism During World War II.

Description
An account of the resource
Sakamoto continues to talk about his time at Heart Mountain concentration camp in Wyoming. He would work there as a swamper, sneaking out of the camp sometimes to hike the nearby mountains or play in the ravines. He would later be presented with the famous loyalty questionnaire in which he and his family would answer no-no, which would land them all in Tule Lake concentration camp. While there, the security was much heavier and the residents would pass the time by playing baseball. He talks about hearing about the 100th Infantry and 442nd Regiment and the sacrifices they were making. Next, he would hear about the end of the war and be admitted to leave the camp.

Description
An account of the resource
In this segement, Nakawatase explains his feelings towards not being able to recall much of his time at camp due to being a young child. At the age of 16, Nakawatase was the head of the family upon leaving the camp. In high school, Nakawatase considered himself a poor student due to being tossed from class for challenging his teachers for personal beliefs, such as being an American citizen and being demoralized. In camp, Nakawatase was aware of the war, from the victories and setbacks of both Japan and U.S., but felt very removed. He wondered if would have to go back to Japan, or if he would be able to stay in the U.S. Nakawatase recalls the guards also feeling removed. He remembers them performing sweeps for contraband. When the War ended, Nakawatase was head of the household and was left to decide the next step for the family.
