Description
An account of the resource
In this segment, Kimura begins by talking about traveling to Naples, Italy. He talks about a typical day aboard the troop ship and the feeling and morale of the men. Upon arrival to Naples, they set up tents and awaited orders. He recalls hearing German bombing near his location on his first night and remembering that it was the scariest night he endured. After being sent into combat, Kimura was given a pass to Rome for vacation. After coming back to France, Kimura's Company was sent in to rescue the Lost Battalion. He describes that tough battle. Kimura remembers how the people in Bruyeres showed respect to them and honored them. Losses were heavy, and he recalls how the numbers dwindled fast. While in Nice, Kimura talks about his switch in job duties in which he became an undertaker.
