In two headings: "Common Memorial Service in Aleutian Island" and "Ready to Charter American Cruising Steamship" Kasukabe writes to members Japan Alpine-ski Soldiers Association about his attending, as associate member of the 10th Mountain Division, Nisei Soldier reunions in California. He specifically mentions two American veterans, David M. Nelson, Archivist of the National Association of the 10th Mountain Division and David M. Nelson, an editor [?] of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
He writes of a mutual desire to hold a Common Memorial Service including Americans and Aleuts at Little Falls Cemetery on Attu Islands and his desire, and the desire of the Japanese Kiska Veterans Society to raise money to charter an American steamship in the Aleutian "Chains" as part of reunion services and the memorial service.

"Karl Kasukabe received Sun Flat, a substitute for himself as a casualty, with tears from formerly S/Sgt. Sherman L Smith at Nagoya Terminal Hotel on [the] 19th (Sun). He took Mr & Mrs. Smith around skiing grounds in Japan for a month: Hakuba ski-grounds, Zaoh ice-covered foliage hills and Sapporo Snow Festival. Meanwhile, the [m]eetings with Kiska Veterans' Society, Chukyo Alpine Club and other mountaineers were held at Nagoya, Tokyo and Sapporo.
Mr. M.N. MacKengie, President of the National Association of the 10th Mountain Division, Inc., sent the letter to Kasukabe stating, "I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you into the Association as an Associate Member and to extend an invitation to you to attend our [n]ational [r]eunion in Seattle, Washington, August 12-16, 1986."

Description
An account of the resource
Mr. Black briefly talks about his illnesses which led to his evacuation to the United States and his subsequent discharge from the Army. He next describes his life after his military service, including attending college and his career in the trucking business. Through his job with the trucking company, Mr. Black made friendships with many Japanese-American veterans. Mr. Black has been a supporter of the Japanese-American cause following World War II, as well as a supporter of several veterans organizations. Mr. Black concludes by talking about his sons' own military careers and visiting the Go For Broke Monument.

Description
An account of the resource
Mr. Black talks about his trip across the Atlantic, where he landed in North Africa and was eventually deployed to Salerno, Italy. Assigned as a forward observer, Mr. Black saw his first action at the Battle of Monte Cassino and described his various duties the position entailed. After joining the Lost Battalion as a replacement, the group became trapped in the Vosges Mountains. Mr. Black describes the conditions while trapped and discusses the rescue operation by 442nd. Following the rescue, Mr. Black was evacuated, suffering from dysentery and hepatitis, and taken back to the United States.

Mr. Black recounts his hearing the news of the Pearl Harbor attack and how he viewed Japanese-Americans at that time. Soon drafted into the Army, Mr. Black discusses his marriage shortly before being shipped out to Fort Leonard Wood for his basic training.

In this final part of the interview, Mr. Kuniyoshi talks about his daughters and grandchildren. An account of the resource
Kuniyoshi discusses the action he saw throughout Europe, including battles which liberated the city of Bruyeres, France and helped rescue the "Lost Battalion." Shortly after fighting in the Gothic Line, the war ended in Europe and he was discharged from the Army. Discharged in New York, he and a friend traveled around the country before returning to Hawaii. Lefty would go on to meet his wife after the war and was employed by the county government in Hawaii.

Mr. Kuniyoshi describes his time at Camp Shelby, discussing his role as a squad leader and discusses some of the former members of his squad. He next talks about being shipped to the frontline in Italy and describes a situation in which his platoon leader was killed by a mine blast. Mr. Kuniyoshi discusses how he received the nickname "Lefty" and shares his memories from the morning of the Pearl Harbor attack. After the attack, he decided to serve his country by first enlisting in the Hawaiian Territorial Guard and later the Varsity Victory Volunteers. After these groups were disbanded, Kuniyoshi volunteered to join the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, where he was shipped out to Mississippi for basic training.
