In this video clip, Genro Kashiwa talks about his childhood. As the son of a Buddhist priest, he was responsible for completing various chores around the Buddhist temple and during services. He describes what it was like growing up in a traditional Japanese household. He attended Japanese language school and learned Kendo (Martial Arts). He talks about his educational experience in elementary, junior high, and high school. At the end of the clip, he begins to talk about his recollections of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
