<text>In this segment, Martin Tohara talks about living in Hawaii and what his father did to secure a safe upbringing. He explains how English school and Japanese school were different and what was taught in Japanese school. He also explained how growing up in a Japanese household was rich with culture and included a religious influence. Tohara was very involved in school activities and sports. He also describes the type of people his parents were and how his mother was very cultured and eager to learn more about cooking. Tohara ends by talking about a memorable teacher he had that gave advice that he would forever cherish, and he explains how that advice impacted the type of soldier he would become in the Army.</text>
