Sato discusses his parents' immigration to the United States, their physical traits and personalities; and also discusses his father's employment. He then talks about his childhood and discusses religion, his childhood home, his family's Japanese bath (furo), family meals, languages spoken at home, and decorations in his home. Next, Sato discusses his siblings, childhood neighborhood, attending school, playing football, and his childhood mentor. Sato also discusses celebrating holidays including New Years; discusses the attack on Pearl Harbor and aftermath; talks about his chores on the farm; and discusses recreational activities such as fishing. Lastly, Sato discusses Executive Order 9066; forced removal; talks about the items he brought to Puyallup temporary detention facility; and discusses his first impressions of Puyallup.
