Nagano continues his recollection of his time overseas during the war. He talks about his experience in a shell hole and seeing people fish with concussion grenades. He would be an interrogator of prisoners of war while in New Guinea and was then sent to Officer Candidate School. After completion of the school, he would head to the Philippines to begin his assignment as an officer at the General Headquarters. Due to the points system, he was offered a chance to go back home, so he would head to Japan to catch a ship home, he would however, have some trouble in finding one right away. He would end up trying to meet up with his sister in Ibaraki and visiting the town of Zama with friends until he was finally able to head home. He would end up in San Pedro, where his brother would pick him up and he would join the Army Reserves before going out to Minnesota to meet back up with his wife.

Miyamoto continues his recollection of growing up on Hilo, where his pidgin English was heavy and his normal English was inconsistent. After graduation from high school, he and his family would move to Kalihi on Oahu. It was there that he would see the attacks on Pearl Harbor, thinking that it was just a military maneuver. Shortly after, his uncle would be taken in by the FBI, until after joining the Army, Miyamoto would write a letter to the military government asking for his release. He would be transported to the mainland and taken to basic training at Camp Shelby, as part of the original 442nd Regiment. Next, he talks about his first combat experience, facing discrimination, and seeing his cousin who was fighting with the 100th Regiment.

Doi talks more about his time at Camp Shelby, giving a couple of stories of close-calls, one including a grenade and the other including a mine that ended up being a dud. After this, he would head to Europe, where his duties included running supplies to the front lines and being a litter-bearer. Next, he talks more about his war experiences, including food rations, the Champagne Campaign and being in Southern France. After this, he would detached from the 442nd and join the 517th Parachute Infantry Regiment, where he would train with gliders, preparing for an invasion of Southern France. However, once the assignment was in place, the antitank company ended up not having to take down any tanks.

Nakasone talks about the reactions to the Japanese attacking the Americans at Pearl Harbor and the effect that it had on his family. His parents understood that they would be seen as enemy aliens after the attacks but also understood that their children were Americans and would have to do their duty for their country. At this time, the Japanese language school and regular school would stop and everybody would have to work on the pineapple fields once a week. Next, he talks about receiving his draft notice and his thoughts on going to Japan. He would head to Tokyo and join the Allied Translator and Interpreter Section at the NYK Building. He talks about various experiences, including traveling through Japan and interacting with Japanese civilians. He also talks about what it was like in Japan during the occupation, seeing small food rations for the locals, General MacArthur's leadership and the impact of the Japanese American soldiers.
