An account of the resource
Kuida speaks about the end of the war in Europe, where he spent the last leg of the trip visiting Rome, attending courses at the University of Florence and guarding an ammunition depot. Next, they were sent back to the United States and he would get discharged at Camp Kilmer in New Jersey. A month later, he would be back in the classroom, finishing up his pre-med courses at the University of Utah, and then getting acceptance to begin his medical degree as well. After completing all his medical training and starting a family, he was able to head back to Utah to begin his career. Finally, he speaks about the need for Japanese Americans to remember their roots and take in stride all the culture that has been a part of their past.

An account of the resource
Kuida discusses his path following the family's move to Utah. As his sister was sick, his family ended up moving closer to Salt Lake City, where Kuida would start attending classes at the University of Utah. After about a year at the university, he was drafted into the army, figuring that he would be a part of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team as a replacement. He and his brother would head to Camp Kilmer in Florida to begin their training and await their shipment to Europe. His brother would end up going first, and Kuida and a large convoy would follow months later. They would arrive in Le Havre, France and head to Marseille, where they had to be quarantined for measles. Following this, they would be sent to the front lines, where he would see his brother after 4 months of separation. They would, however, have to separate minutes later as Kuida was assigned to join cannon company in Carrara Italy, where he would see his first combat action.

Turner talks more about the aftermath of Pearl Harbor, and the formation of a provisional Battalion, that would end up being the 100th Infantry Battalion. He talks about the various local leaders, competing to be the commander of the 100th and his father ending up being the chosen leader. He talks about some of his father's leadership techniques and his relationship with Japanese Americans in Hawaii. He would ship out with his father to the mainland, listening to Hawaiian music and leaving Hawaii for the first time. Next, he talks about the harsh reality of creating a unit with soldiers from the same area, as when casualties heavy, it's difficult for the entire area. While his father was at Camp McCoy, Turner would be attending school at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. He talks about visiting him there and his high school life.
