Description
An account of the resource
Hoashi talks in depth about his family and the relationship he had with his grandparents. As he was adopted and his mother had re-married, Seichi was brought up by his grandparents in Kauai, running a boarding house. He talks also about his knowledge of his biological father and growing up in Hawaii. Next, he talks about his uncle's relationship with Walter McBride and working for him.

Description
An account of the resource
Hoashi discusses his reasons for joining the Army, and the process of induction, getting assigned to a company and getting shipped over to Mississippi. While at Camp Shelby, he would experience segregation in the South while doing his basic training. He would also get to go on furlough and see New York City. After this, he would be shipped overseas, first to North Africa, going from Casablanca to Oran and then making their way up to Naples. They would join the 442nd Regiment following the Cassino battle and head to Anzio for Hoashi's first taste of combat.

Description
An account of the resource
Saiki discusses more about his childhood years, including festivals where the local children would be able to try sumo wrestling and win prizes. He would attend Kauai High School and talks about his whereabouts during the Pearl Harbor attacks. His local church would be taken over by the military and the rice farm would be affected. Soon after, he would volunteer for the Army and get inducted at Hanapepe. They would be shipped from Kauai to Honolulu to report to Schofield Barracks, then be shipped to the mainland on the SS Lurline and trained down in Mississippi. At Camp Shelby, he would be assigned to service company and then motor pool to be a truck driver with A company, which would later merge with the 100th Infantry Battalion. He talks about the furloughs he took and the training that he received.
