Description
An account of the resource
Fujimoto begins the interview with the surrender of the Japanese Army and the end of the war. As he was already in the Philippines, they would begin the military occupation in Japan shortly after. He would get over to Tokyo by ship and begin his assignment as an interpreter. When arriving in Japan, Fujimoto immediately saw the kindness of the Japanese citizens and how different they were from the Japanese soldiers. A colonel would seek out Fujimoto and assign him to go throughout Japan, starting in Hokkaido, and talk with Japanese civilians about various topics. Next, he looks through a photo album, talking about meeting General MacArthur's wife and son. Next, he would head back to Tokyo and begin a job working at the front desk of the Daichi hotel.
