Description
An account of the resource
Fujimoto continues his recollection of Pearl Harbor and the aftermath of the attacks, including curfews and getting rid of all illegal contraband. Shortly after, they would get notification of Executive Order 9066, which would force them to be moved to an American concentration camp in Arizona. He and his family would be transported there with only the personal belongings they could carry. Once arrived at Poston concentration camp, he would see the poor living conditions including dusty barracks, no privacy and creatures all over the place. He talks about the recreational activities they had there as well, and the loyalty questions that were given to all men. He would end up being drafted into the Army and would be inducted at Fort Sheridan, followed by basic training at Camp Maxey. However, during this time, Victory over Europe occurred and he would be moved to Fort Snelling to begin Military Intelligence Service. While there, Japan surrendered and the war ended. Unfortunately, he was called back home with urgency as his mother was sick and would pass away shortly after. He would be discharged from the Army, so he could take care of his little sisters.

James Murata took the situation of the war in stride. He did his duty as an American citizen and served in the Army. James attended MIS language school and was proud of what he was doing.
He described the living conditions in a five-man hut. On the weekend, had passes to go to town and attend social dances and ate at restaurants. He recalled the locals were friendly.
James’ class lessons were on the progress of current events overseas. Therefore he followed the world news. His lessons were always concentrated on the South Pacific. In class, the curriculum was about cities in Japan. With the information, James learned, he felt the war was in their favor, and he would go to Japan depending on the war.

Description
An account of the resource
While attending regular school during the weekdays, Kawagoye would also attend Japanese language school on the weekends. He would be lucky to have some very impactful teachers during this time, and was always regarded as a good student. Next, he talks about his whereabouts during the Pearl Harbor attacks, and would head home but life would resume as usual until the Executive Order 9066 came around. Luckily, his family was invited to another Japanese families farm in Nebraska, where they would be able to avoid going to the camps and continue working. He would keep up with news of the war on the radio, and when hearing of the heroics of the 442nd and 100th regiments, he decided he would join the Army as well. He would join at Fort Douglas, and be sent to Camp Blanding to begin his basic training. While training, he would be placed in the Military Intelligence School in Minnesota, and they would get word that the war had ended both in Europe and in Japan and his services would end after a year. He would be discharged and use the GI bill to continue his education at the University of Chicago, in which time, he would meet his future wife. They would go on to adopt two children and live happily in California.

Description
An account of the resource
Kazuo Yamaguchi describes how his grandfather was taken by the FBI and interned at Ellis Island. The local newspaper soon started to defame his family, but through the support of his friends and local neighborhood, they put a stop to the harassment. Kazuo was drafted into the United States Army -- after being changed from 1A to 4C and back to 1A classification -- and was sent to Camp Blanding for infantry basic training. Because he hated being an infantryman so much, he volunteered for the Military Intelligence Service (MIS), where he underwent language training at Fort Snelling. During V-E Day, he and his MISLS class were shipped overseas to the Pacific War.
