Description
Miyahara discusses coming back to Japan following his discharge in the United States. Once back, he decided to re-enlist with the Army Air Force, but was sent back to Japan. While there for the third time with the Army, he met his wife but because of immigration laws, would not be able to bring her back to the United States. Miyahara decided to stay in Japan and work as a civilian as a welfare officer, which included collecting taxes for the Japanese government. While working on a political bill to be able to bring his wife over to Japan, she passed away. Next, he talks about the black market, rebuilding the Japanese society and hardships that he witnessed. He also was able to visit his grandfather in Saga, where he would drink strong whiskey and learn about his family. Finally, he talks about the importance of the Nisei linguists during military occupation.
