Description
An account of the resource
Konoshima begins by speaking about his time in occupied Japan. After spending time in the American concentration camps, he would be shipped to Tokyo as part of the Headquarters team. When arriving in Tokyo, he would remember the destruction of buildings but as it was around 1950, much was changing. He would also be able to visit family that was in Gifu and see the black market. After about a year in Tokyo, he would be assigned to be an interrogator in Korea. In his experience, he did not notice any animosity from the civilians or the prisoners of war that he interrogated. Next he discusses the military occupation as a whole and how the implementation of Constitution and democracy would shape Japan's government. He also talks about the timing of American soldiers needing to be moved out of Japan after a certain point so that Japan would be able to reconcile themselves in due time. In later years, he would return to Japan as a writer for a newspaper and note the changes that he saw each time he came back.

An account of the resource
Sakamoto continues to talk about his time at Heart Mountain concentration camp in Wyoming. He would work there as a swamper, sneaking out of the camp sometimes to hike the nearby mountains or play in the ravines. He would later be presented with the famous loyalty questionnaire in which he and his family would answer no-no, which would land them all in Tule Lake concentration camp. While there, the security was much heavier and the residents would pass the time by playing baseball. He talks about hearing about the 100th Infantry and 442nd Regiment and the sacrifices they were making. Next, he would hear about the end of the war and be admitted to leave the camp.

Yano continues to talk about his schooling, taking a history class and finding the Constitution and the way the Japanese Americans were being treated was unjust. He would end up throwing the book across the room and leaving the classroom, never to return again. After this, he goes back and talks about the attacks on Pearl Harbor, playing basketball in Lindsay, and seeing the reaction of his father. They would be faced with a lot of restrictions and curfew, seeing a lot of prejudice throughout the process. His family would be evacuated and sent to Gila River Concentration Camp, losing almost all of their personal belongings and leaving the farm to a man that would end up stealing a lot of their produce. After this, he talks about arriving at the camp, and seeing one of his friends from high school working as a military policeman, ignoring Yano.
