Iwamoto discusses his nickname, his parents and the reasons why his father immigrated to the United States; his parents' employment; his parent's personalities; and working at his father's cafe. He then talks about going to church, attending school, playing sports, attending Japanese language school, languages spoken at home, and his childhood dog. Next, Iwamoto talks about his experiences with discrimination; the attack on Pearl Harbor and aftermath; getting drafted and inducted; his experiences at Camp Shelby during basic training; and going to Fort Snelling for Military Intelligence Service (MIS) and what a typical day was like. Iwamoto also talks about training in New Jersey for Signal Intelligence Unit; his experiences traveling by train across the country to Seattle; his trip overseas to Japan; his assignments in Japan developing informants; and also discusses other experiences in Japan such as food, visiting relatives, traveling. Lastly, Iwamoto talks about his sister's experiences living in Japan during World War Two; and discusses getting discharged, his rank, and flying back to the United States.

Inami discusses his name, date of birth, and parents' prefecture origin. Inami's Father comes to the Untied States for more financial opportunities. He works on a farm and then opens a store. Growing up Inami sends his time helping his parents' business after school. In Kindergarten he recalls the demographics of his fellow classmates. Inami also attends Sunday School and Japanese Language School. In High School he only attends for two years before going off to camp. In his free time he watches Japanese movies.

He then talks about his father's involvement with Hiroshima Kenjinkai and the tanomoshi-ko financial system; and discusses plantation workers, friendships, and recreational activities such as surfing and fishing. Lastly, Otoshi discusses his siblings, speaking Pidgin at home, memorable teachers, attending Japanese language school, and a linguist position he held in Okinawa.

Robert "Rusty" Kimura begins the interview talking about how his parents came from Japan and settled in Oroville, California. He would grow up there, getting into a lot of fights as he grew up a small child and people were always picking on him. He would also face discrimination, even being asked to step down from a position in the student body. He talks about the values that his family taught him, such as, not stealing and being honest. In high school, he would be involved in football, basketball and track, even winning some championships.

In this interview, Samuel Harano describes his early childhood in Hawaii and the tragic loss of his mother in a house fire. He recalls being sent to Japan where he spent his school years rebelling against an increasingly militaristic culture. Upon returning to Hawaii as a teenager, he talks about several jobs he held, including his long-time stint as an elevator boy at the Moana Hotel. Harano also remembers the Bombing of Pearl Harbor and volunteering for the army. After his basic training, Harano describes his recruitment to MIS, being hand-picked to serve overseas early, and learning interrogation tactics in India.

Lastly, Tanamachi discusses her reasons for attending college in Colorado to become a teacher; joining an Asian American social club; friendships; and discusses her husband, son, and her experiences visiting Hawaii during college.

He proceeds to talk about the chain of events that led to him enlisting in the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and shipping out to go overseas.

Surh begins the interview by recalling the story about how her parents met, married, and started a family. After that, Surh recalls her parents' work before reminiscing about different stories that reflected her personality and behavior as a child. She moves on to discussing her family household, including her father's strong dislike of Japanese people due to the Japanese Empire colonizing Korea, and she talks about how that dislike passed from her father to her brother. Lastly, she talks about meeting Young-Oak Kim in Los Angeles, her experiences in LA, and eventually having to move to Arizona.

In this segment, Rose Uriyu talks about her favorite writer, Ernie Pyle, and his notable journalistic work during World War II, which he is known for. She talks more about her parents and describes the type of people they were. She also talks about her siblings. She talks more about her work at the hospital and how she chose the hospital over other opportunities. After two years at the hospital, Uriyu went to work for the newspaper, which opened a door into the MIS. With the MIS, she was sent to Tokyo, where she worked in the same office as General MacArthur. There, she typed the translated reports that were sent off to Washington. Uriyu ends the segment by talking about the work of a photographer and the wake of destruction she saw from Hiroshima.

In this segment, Frank Kimura introduces himself and his hometown of Fresno. He also talks about his family and how his parents' had a difficult journey to the United States. As Kimura talks about his family and growing up on a farm, we learn he is close with his brother and mother, but distant from his father. Kimura also talks about life on the farm and his experiences in both English school and Japanese language school. To him, English school involved more fun, but Japanese school was strictly learning the language. Home for Kimura was very basic, but he learned values. Interaction with the Japanese families occurred when they came together for New Year's celebrations.

In this segment Ben Uyemura talks about his upbringing in a poor neighborhood of Los Angeles. His parents did not have a lot but he remembers they both were hardworking people. He talks about the activities he was in as a kid in grammar school, and the highlights of high school, especially building a car. His employment primarily was working as a truck driver, but he also worked in produce and plumbing. After being drafted into the service, he became a truck driver. As war broke out after Pearl Harbor, his picture appeared in the newspaper due to being in town in his uniform carrying out orders.

In this segment, Martin Tohara talks about living in Hawaii and what his father did to secure a safe upbringing. He explains how English school and Japanese school were different and what was taught in Japanese school. He also explained how growing up in a Japanese household was rich with culture and included a religious influence. Tohara was very involved in school activities and sports. He also describes the type of people his parents were and how his mother was very cultured and eager to learn more about cooking. Tohara ends by talking about a memorable teacher he had that gave advice that he would forever cherish, and he explains how that advice impacted the type of soldier he would become in the Army.
