After being forced removed and moved to Puyallup Temporary Detention Center, Tokunaga would head to Minidoka Concentration Camp early to help set up supplies. Soon after, he would be drafted into the Army and inducted at Fort Douglas to join the 442nd Regimental Combat Team as a replacement. However, while at basic training, he saw the opportunity to join the paratroopers and volunteered. He would train in jump school, learning the intricacies of parachuting until he was shipped to Europe. He would begin his combat in Le Havre, France and be assigned to take over a base in Europe. Next, he talks about the various parachuting experiences he had, including taking a town in Germany and seeing Nazi labor camps.
