Description

Kanada talks about his parents immigrating to Hawaii, childhood activities in Honolulu, values growing up, and attending English and Japanese language school. He then talks about recreational activities such as sports, swimming, and ballroom dancing; and discusses his whereabouts during the attack on Pearl Harbor and his experiences after the attack involving rationing and blackouts. Lastly, Kanada talks about a friendship, his reasons for volunteering, traveling to the mainland and Camp Shelby, and discusses basic training.
