Ishihara discusses growing up in Enumclaw, Washington, including his experiences living near a lumber mill, his hobbies such as fishing and playing sports, the demographics and community within Enumclaw, and going to school. He also talks about going to high school in Los Angeles for a few years and describes the differences between living in the city versus a rural community. Lastly, Ishihara discusses his experiences going to Alaska and working in a cannery during his summer vacations, what it was like traveling from Los Angeles to Alaska, and working as a gardener in Los Angeles.
