Description

Mr. Yabu discusses his parents' backgrounds and talks about his real father leaving the family when Shigeru was an infant. Mr. Yabu grew up in San Francisco and surrounding communities, moving often as a child. He discuses various topics of his childhood, including the role of his stepfather in his life, living in a mansion in which his parents were employed, and his competitive drive. Concluding part 1, Mr. Yabu describes his introduction to the Boy Scouts, which would play a large role in his life.
