Description

Nohara discusses visiting Rohwer and Jerome incarceration camps, his assignment guarding German POWs who were in Georgia harvesting peanut crops, volunteering to travel overseas to Europe; and his thoughts and reactions to landing in Italy and meeting up with the 100th in Anzio. He then talks about his first combat experiences, getting injured during a battle at Castillon, friendships in the 100th; and discusses a platoon leader named, "Chick". Lastly, Nohara describes Rome and Italian civilians, and talks about corresponding with his family while overseas.
