Description

Joe Saito discusses conditions at Camp Shelby and shares experiences. At basic training he describes the relationship between Mainland boys and Hawaiian boys. Saito parts ways with the 442nd Regimental Combat Team when he arrives at Camp Meade and joins the 171st Unit. He describes his duties and first time seeing a casualty. Saito trains replacements for the 100th Infantry Battalion and the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. He applies for Officer Candidate School and get in as a Second Lieutenant Medical Administrative. He is discharge in 1945.
