Description

Akiyama talks about his first days in the Army which involved basic training at Camp Blanding in Florida. He also talks about his experiences at Camp Blanding during a hurricane; talks about food at Camp Blanding as well as Army rations; and discusses his experiences during KP duty. Next, Akiyama talks about his post-war work at a post office, provides his thoughts regarding going overseas for battle, discusses traveling overseas, and discusses joining up with the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. Lastly, Akiyama talks about his combat experiences in France, his duties in A Company, training while overseas, his experiences with enemy fire at Po Valley, and discusses soldiers who were killed in action as well as soldiers who were wounded by land mines.
