Description
After his arrival in Italy, Sato would join up with the 100th Infantry Battalion as a replacement. He talks about various war experiences, including the breakthrough of the Gothic Line, getting shelled and the Red Cross. Next, he talks about seeing the German soldiers retreating as they continued their march forward, sitting on the top of the tanks as they moved through towns. Shortly after, he would hear about the end of the war, being in Milan when Mussolini was caught and killed. He also talks about being able to go on short trips to Switzerland as he awaited his turn to return to the United States.
