A couple of years following Pearl Harbor, Tsuji decided to join the Army and was being shipped to the mainland in just 10 days later. He speaks on the transportation to San Francisco and then to Camp Shelby in Mississippi. During his time at Camp Shelby, Tsuji took a furlough and visited his sister at the Gila River camps in Arizona and then to Chicago, where the locals were well aware of the Japanese camps and were dumbfounded by it.
