Description
Kimura begins the interview giving an introduction of himself and his family background. He was born on the Hawaiian island of Kauai and was raised by a man he would know as his brother, though he was actually an uncle. He speaks about his childhood home and what it was like to grow up in Kauai. Much of his childhood would include playing sports like baseball and football, learning the fundamentals on the sugarcane fields. He would skip a few grades and complete his high school education at the age of 16, and he would work as a carpenter, living on his own in Waimea.
