Description

Yamamoto discusses his first impressions of Manzanar incarceration camp and talks about the living conditions there; as well as his employment working in a camouflage factory, hospital, and sugar beet farming in Idaho. He then talks about the loyalty questionnaire he took, volunteering for service, going to Fort Douglas for enlistment, and experiencing discrimination while traveling to Camp Shelby. Next, Yamamoto talks about his relationship with the "no-no boys" at Manzanar; and discusses riots at Manzanar. Yamamoto also talks about his experiences at Camp Shelby including basic training, taking combat intelligence courses, and his experiences in Hattiesburg. Lastly, Yamamoto talks about his relationship with Hawaiian soldiers, discusses learning Pidgin English, and talks about visiting Rohwer incarceration camp.
