Description
Mrs. Kato was raised on a farm in Nebraska and describes her early childhood growing up in the rural community of North Platte. Mrs. Kato volunteered to join the Women's Army Corps following the attack on Pearl Harbor, where she served with the language and translation sections at Camp Ritchie. Following the war, Mrs. Kato got married and moved to Long Beach, California, working as a secretary for the city attorney's office.
