Description

Hirabayashi recounts his early life being raised on a farm in Washington state and later attending school in Japan. Upon returning to the United States and joining the military, Hirabayashi dealt with the dichotomy of serving his country while the rest of his family's rights were being taken away. With the bombing of Pearl Harbor, discusses this difficult period, coupled with discrimination Nisei soldiers faced in the military.
