Description

In this video clip, Rudy Tokiwa talks about visiting his father's family in Japan. During his time in Japan, he also traveled to Manchuria and Korea because his brother-in-law worked for the Japanese railroad company. His father came to America through Alaska and volunteered to fight in World War I. Even though he was a World War I veteran, he did not gain American citizenship, as he had hoped, and therefore could not own land.
