Description
Nishime describes arriving in Italy and facing combat, being wounded by shrapnel, receiving the Purple Heart Medal at a hospital, as well as rejoining the 100th Infantry Battalion. This part of the interview focuses on stories of combat and various companions and other soldiers being wounded or killed in action.
