Kuwayama discusses fond family memories and fishing trips he took with his family and siblings. He then talks about his family's austere qualities and how they did not show their emotions often, sometimes to the chagrin of Kuwayama. He concludes part three by discussing his time in elementary and high school and describes what it was like to be the only Japanese American in his school.
