- Description is exactly "Kawanishi continues his recollection of his time at Camp Shelby in Mississippi as he began his basic training with the 442nd Regiment. He talks about the Hawaiian soldiers and segregation he saw in the South, as well as a few times he got in trouble for insubordination in the Army. He would be shipped out of Virginia and arrived in Naples, Italy where he would experience many different facets of war, including getting wounded from shrapnel. He also talks about the various battles he was involved with and being attached to the 3rd Army, which was run by General Patton. At the end of the war, the 522nd Artillery Battalion would be the ones to open the gates at the Dachau concentration camp, and Kawanishi talks about the people he saw coming out of there. After a few months in the military occupation of Germany, he would be sent back to Colorado and get discharged."
