Description

Tanamachi talks about her grandparents; and some of her mother's experiences including her childhood on Terminal Island, and her forced removal to Santa Anita temporary detention facility and Rohwer incarceration camp. She also talks about how her parents met at Rohwer; and discusses her father, relatives, family friends, and the Texas community she grew up in. Next, Tanamachi talks about her childhood including attending Japanese language school; her experiences with Japanese culture and food; her siblings; influential teachers; and high school . Tanamachi then talks about her uncles' and their military service including their involvement with the 442nd. Lastly, Tanamachi discusses her reasons for attending college in Colorado to become a teacher; joining an Asian American social club; friendships; and discusses her husband, son, and her experiences visiting Hawaii during college.
