Description
In this segment, Takemoto recounts his training at Camp Shelby before being deployed for action in Italy. He explains that the soldiers were trained to know their rifles intimately, but were issued new weapons at Newport News without time to practice with them. He then describes his experience in battle, seeing dead American and German soldiers, and the equipment, terrain and contacts with the local Italians.
