Description

Mori continues his recollection of his basic training at Camp Shelby in Mississippi and the preparation for the war. After that, he was sent back to Fort Snelling before being shipped out, and at that time also got married. Next, he would be shipped out and sent to Guam, and Leyte in the Philippines before arriving in Okinawa. Working as an interpreter, he would approach Japanese that were hiding out in caves and try to get them out safely, including a pregnant lady that was nearly ready to have her child. He speaks about a few other cave experiences and his time going through Iejima Island.
